When we started the passion project it wasn't to hard to figure out what I wanted to do. I pretty much used the process of elimination to pick what I would do for my project. I started off by eliminating researching future careers, cooking/baking and learning a musical instrument. Eventually I said no to my passions as well which were drawing and singing. By using this process I was able to chose to learn how to speak German.
I really liked this idea because a majority of my famly can speak German and they like to converse using it. By being able to understand and speak German I wouldn't feel as left out of conversations during family get togethers. Also I thought it would be a good idea to speak German because in the future I want to travel to Germany and it would be really helpful if I was able to speak it.
For this project I didn't really know where to begin, so I asked my mom what I should do. She ended up giving me the book that she used to learn German which goes through a bunch of lessons of what to use and when to use it. As well my mom helped me along the way when I really got stuck. Since I plan on continuing to learn German I am going tto look up some good Apps that could help me in the process.
The first thing I learned was the alphabet which is a lot like the french alphabet. I then went on to learn numbers which was easier then I thought it was going to be and I can now count from one to a hundred. The other things I learned were just some random words I picked up along the way and a few smaller phrases that would be helpful to know.
For this project I never made a specific goal that I wanted to reach, but my expectations were quite high. I now can look back and see that my expectations were too high because I came in thinking I would be able to put small sentences together by the end of the time give. Since I do see my expectations for this project were to high to accomplish I am not dissappointed with where I have gotten. I do plan to continue learning German so that one day I may be able to have whole conversations using it.
Overall I would say that my project was a success because I did start learning German and I have found out that I want to continue with it.
